幽默语言的可译性与不可译性--以《围城》英译本为例

The Translatability and Untranslatability of Humor Language:Taking the English Translation of "Fortress Besieged" as an Example

在源语文本中使人发笑的幽默语言在目的语文本中会因为文化差异及思维差异而一定程度丧失了幽默的特点,造成译入语读者难以体验与源语读者相同的文本效果,译本的文学价值难免会因此而在目的语中降低。译届关于英语幽默语言外译的研究较多,而对汉语幽默语言的外译研究却少得多。本文以英译本《围城》中的幽默语言为例,从可译与不可译两方面探讨了该作品中幽默语言的翻译策略及方法,并提出了一些看法和建议。

The humor language that makes people laugh in the source text loses the characteristics of humor in the text of the target language because of cultural differences and differences in thinking.This makes it difficult for readers of translated language to experience the same textual effects as the source language readers.The literary value will inevitably be reduced in the target language.There have been many studies on the translation of English humor language in translation,but there has been much less research on the translation of humor language in Chinese.Taking the humor language in the English version of"Fortress Besieged"as an example,this paper discusses the translation strategies and methods of humor language in this work from both translatability and untranslatability,and puts forward some opinions and suggestions.
