元杂剧《单刀会》英译本译文偏离现象评析——基于系统功能语言学元功能视角

A Translation Deviation Analysis of the Yuan Zaju Plays——A Case Study of the English Version Dan Dao Hui from the SFL Meta-functions

尝试从系统功能语言学元功能视角审视翻译研究和戏曲翻译质量评估模式,从概念意义、人际意义这两个元功能入手,尝试分析杨宪益、戴乃迭合译的关汉卿杂剧《单刀会》(《关大王单刀会》)英译文本与剧作源语文本的意义切合度。杨宪益《单刀会》英译文流畅优美,传神达意,但在一些细节上仍有可商榷之处。该剧英译文在词语层面,一些文化典故词语漏译和误译,或进行文化简化,造成译文文学性降低,同时也造成概念区分度缺省。在小句层面,译文改动了原文的及物性,关系过程误译为心理过程,造成译文意义溢出。相对于概念上的误译,译文在人际意义上的误译漏译更多一些,混淆或过于弱化了原文称谓与数字的人际意义。

Adopting a functional linguistic approach to translation studies and implementing the model of translation quality assessment,we make an analysis and evaluation of the English version of Guan Hanqing蒺s play Dan Dao Hui(Guan Yu Goes to a Lone Sword Meeting)translated by Yang Xianyi&Gladys Yang from ideational and interpersonal functions respectively.According to the ideational function,this paper finds out that in the range of diction there exists in Yang蒺s version of translation some errors mainly in two aspects such as the deviation and missing translation of culture-loaded words or phrases,which leads to the weakening of literariness and discrimination.In the aspect of sentences,there exists the deviation of transitivity process such as translating relation process into mental process which leads to meaning overflow.According to the interpersonal function,there exists in Yang蒺s translation confusing and weakening addressing and numbers of the interpersonal functions of the ST.
