Survey and Analysis of Famous University Institutional Repositories in the United States

[目的/意义]随着开放存取这种新兴学术信息交流模式逐渐替代传统学术信息交流模式,近些年机构知识库建设在全球范围内逐渐兴起并成为国内外图书馆学和情报学的研究热点,但从整体上我国机构知识库的资源建设水平和服务功能都还较低。[方法/过程]以Open DOAR提供的信息为依据对15所美国知名高校机构知识库的使用软件、存档数量、收录学科范围及语种、收录资源类型、是否遵循OAI-PMH、相关政策制定情况等方面进行调查。[结果/结论]分析和总结出对我国高校机构知识库及智库整体可持续性发展起到积极促进作用的启示:赋予高校机构知识库多重价值和功能;拓展机构知识库的增值服务内容;提高机构知识库的技术性能和开放程度;扩大机构知识库的成果收录范围;详细制定机构知识库的相关政策。

[Purpose/Significance]The construction of institutional repository has become the research point of Library and Information Science at home and abroad,following Open Access has replaced the traditional information communication in recent years.[Method/Process]The article firstly surveys the overall description,software,size,subjects and languages,resources content,followed OAI-PMH(yes/no),related policies,etc.of fifteen famous university institutional repositories in the United States on the basis of the information in OpenDOAR,and furthermore analyzes and draws upon some practical conclusions meaningful to the development of university institutional repositories in China.[Result/Conclusion]The conclusions include:endowing university institutional repository with multiple value and function,developing value-added service of university institutional repository,enhancing the technical property and open access power,depositing multiple types of output contents in the university institutional repositories,deliberating the related policies about university institutional repositories.The research is expected to promote the sustained development of university institutional repositories and think tanks in China.
