双关语是重要的修辞格之一,它是指在一定的语言环境中,利用某词的多义或同音条件来创造语句,有意使语句具有双重意义。双关语形象生动,能充分体现说话人的性格特征,同时能加深语意。双关语一般都诙谐幽默,有的还带有讽刺意味。双关语被广泛运用于文学作品、广告及谜语、故事中。双关语较难翻译。基于彼得·纽马克的交际翻译理论的双关语翻译方法有直译法、意译法、注释法、省译法、拟双关法、拆译法、拼音法等。双关语在文学领域的使用能增强语言的美感,激发读者的阅读兴趣,加深读者的印象,并促使人深入思考。总之,可以提高作品的可读性。

Pun is an important figure of speech that employs the polysemy or the same pronunciation of the words in a certain language.Pun not only can express two levels of meaning of the source text,but also can produce many effect,such as,humor,satire,vivid expression of the characters'feelings,which can increase the beauty of language and improve readability in order to attract the readers'interest.Because of this,pun is widely used in various literary works such as poems,novels,stories,advertisements and riddles and so on.This article will offer a simple introduction of Peter Newmark's communicative translation,and focus on the translation methods of pun from the view of Newmark's communicative translation.
