Silence,as a voiced form of film,as well as a part of the film narrative construction,plays an important function in driving the plot development and creating the character image.In film,silence tends to be a rhetoric means to drive the plot development,and also becomes the language to express the director’s ideas,meanwhile,it would also become a kind of metaphor of the film itself.As a form of keeping silence during interaction,under different cultural background,silence can be interpreted differently.As American writer Henry David Thoran said,“In human’s communication,tragedy starts not at the moment when words are misunderstood,but at the moment when silence cannot be understood.”
