画像自有声:作为隐性情节叙述的艺术符号

像语言符号一样,文学作品中的画像也有叙述表意功能,区别在于前者依赖于文字符号,后者主要依赖于形象画面。不可忽视的是,文字叙述形塑了画像形体,但文字叙述并不决定画像的本质,画像自有生命和灵魂。文学作品中的画像衍生自语言符号的叙述,但在潜在表意中会逐渐形成自己的叙述位格——作为艺术符号进行表意。在文学作品中,画像并非作为附属性的艺术装饰存在,而是作为一种独立的艺术符号言说自身,同时完成隐性情节叙述的使命:协同或推进显性情节叙述,使情节叙述更加完整,进而揭示主题。

Like linguistic sign,the drawings in the literary works also have narrative and expressive functions.Their differences lie in that the former depends on written signs,the latter mainly on visual pictures.But what cannot be neglected is that written narration shapes the forms of the drawings,yet it doesn’t decide the essence of the drawings which have their own lives and souls.The drawings in the literary works are derived from the narration of the linguistic signs,but they would gradually form their own narrative units in the latent indication as artistic signs.In literary works,drawings do not exist only as subsidiary artistic ornaments,but as independent artistic signs to express themselves.Meanwhile,they can achieve the mission of latent plot narration to harmonize or accelerate dominant plot narration,so as to better complete the plot narration and further expose the theme.
