This article discusses the significance of prosodic rendering of classical Chinese poetry and the poems of Mao Zedong, from the historical function of translation in the cultural exchanges between China and the West and from the personal practical experiences in doing translation. It supplies concrete examples to illustrate the principles and techniques for such a rendering, which is feasible and worth noticing.
