An Analysis on the Relationship between Newmann's Student Engagement and Kuh's

"学习投入"与"学习性投入"均是以学生为主体的研究,由于两者中文相似、英文相同,容易混淆,所以有必要澄清两者间的差异及联系。研究发现两者在研究目的、理论、方法、应用及相关研究方面均有差异,但两者在研究内容、研究方法及理论基础方面又存在一定的继承性。可见,两者既有联系又有区别,学习性投入是对学习投入的发展,且其研究内容包含学习投入。

Both Newmann and Kuh have defined“student engagement”,and their Chinese translations are similar.So plenty of Chinese researchers have considered them the same thing.However,study reports that they are different in research purpose,theoretical basis,method,utilization and research area.Meanwhile,evidence shows that Kuh s student engagement is deeply affected by Newmann s in aspects of research content,method and theoretical basis.Thus,Kuh s student engagement is developed from and contains Newmann s.
