19世纪末中国东北地区特殊的地缘政治使其成为世界关注的焦点地区,中东铁路的修建开启了其快速而特殊的现代化与城镇化历史进程。由于铁路具有重要的军事战略价值,由此中、日、俄三国展开了长达半个多世纪的铁路修建权和管理的争夺,在中东铁路、南满铁路和中国铁路的相互竞争和整合的历史过程中,伴随着各历史主体和各国人民的流血与冲突,铁路成为了中国东北地区社会现代化转型最主要的驱动力之一,促进了中国东北地区现代城镇群的产生和发展,在中国乃至世界近现代城镇发展史中都具有特殊的价值和意义。

At the end of the 19th century,for the special geopolitical,Northeast China became the focus attention of world powers,with the construction of the Chinese Eastern Railway which began the rapid and unique historical of modernization and urbanization.As railway has important military strategic value,China,Japan,Russia(USSR)started over half century competing for the construction and manage right of railway,during the history process of the competition and integration among the Chinese Eastern Railway,the South Manchuria Railway and the Chinese Railway,along with the bloodshed and conflicts in various history subjects and peoples,railway became one of the most main driving force of Northeast China society modernization transformation,and promoted the emergence and development of modern urban populations in Northeast China,has special value and significance in the history of modern development in China or the world.
