《大清律例》英译本中概念转喻研究

A Study of Conceptual Metonymy in the English Version The Legal Code of the Great Qing Dynasty

作为理想化认知模型的一种形式,概念转喻指的是在同一ICM中,一个概念实体(转喻喻体)为另一个概念实体(目标实体)提供心理可及的认知操作过程。ICM在转喻的生成与理解中扮演着重要的角色。以《大清律例》英译本为研究对象,重点探讨了英译本中概念转喻的表征形式。研究发现,《大清律例》英译本中存在着数量众多的概念转喻,如整体与部分转喻、事件转喻、范畴与成员转喻等。

As a kind of idealized cognitive model(ICM),Conceptual metonymy refers to a cognitive process in which one conceptual entity,the vehicle,provides mental access to another conceptual entity,the target,within the same ICM.ICM plays an important role in the production and understanding of conceptual metonymy.Conceptual metonymy is the cognitive mechanism and processing means of translation and it exerts great influence on the language transfer of the translation process.Taking the English version The Legal Code of the Great Qing Dynasty as research object,this paper focuses on the expressive forms of conceptual metonymy in the English version.The study shows that conceptual metonymy in the English version The Legal Code of the Great Qing Dynasty is presented in a large number of forms,such as whole-and-part metonymy,event metonymy as well as category-and-member metonymy and so on.
