张澜致吴芳吉信件考:兼考吴芳吉1928年前后的动向

A Textual Research on Zhang Lan's Letters to Wu Fangji:Including Wu Fangji's Moving Direction Before and After 1928

1927年底至1928年张澜挽留吴芳吉的信件为我们考证吴芳吉在此期间的行程动向提供了直接史料,结合吴芳吉书信、《吴宓日记》、《吴宓书信集》等史料,可理清以下实事:1927年秋,吴芳吉开始任教国立成都大学,期间由于好友吴宓邀请赴京以及其他种种原因,他一度在当年年底辞职成大,计划1928年春携家人出川北上。但筹集不到全家出行的路费,加之时局动荡,吴芳吉的出川计划搁浅,从1928年初寒假归家到8月,他一直在江津,生计维艰。张澜的不懈努力最终使吴芳吉于1928年9月重返成都大学任教,直至1930年。吴芳吉计划出川但最终留任成都大学,其中的曲折展示他在此期间为衣食谋、为家庭委曲求全、为时局所困的艰难处境。

From the end of 1927 to 1928,Zhang Lan's letters of detaining Wu Fangji provided direct historical data for us to verify Wu Fangji,s trend in this period?Combined with Wu Fangji,s letters,Wu Mi’s Diary and Wu Mi’s Letter Collection,we can clarify the following facts:In the autumn of 1927,Wu Fangji began to teach at the national Chengdu University.During this period,because his friend Wu Mi invited him to Beijing and for many other reasons,he resigned at the end of the year and planned to take his family out of Sichuan to Beijing in the spring of 1928.However,Wu Fangji’s plan was stranded as a result of failing in raising the cost of a family trip and the current turmoil.From the early winter vacation in early 1928 when he returned home to August,he had been in Jiangjin,living a hard life.Zhang Lan's unremitting efforts eventually led Wu Fangji to return to teach at Chengdu University in September 1928 until 1930.Wu Fangji had planned to leave Sichuan,but eventually remained at Chengdu University.The twists and turns he experienced during this period showed that he was trapped in the current situation,in order to make a living he had to make a compromise out of consideration for the general interest of his family.
