Social Capital Heterogeneity and Selection of Farmers' Financing Channels

社会资本被普遍认为是影响农户信贷可得性的重要因素。但是,随着农村经济、社会结构的变化,农户的社会资本形态也正在发生系统性变迁。不同类型的社会资本,对农户信贷可得性及融资渠道的选择,是否已经产生了不同的影响?基于广东和江西两个省份的农户问卷调查数据,对此问题进行研究。研究发现,不同类型的社会资本影响着农户对于融资渠道的选择:以血缘和宗族关系为代表的结构型社会资本促进了农户的民间借贷,但无助于其获取银行等正规金融机构的贷款;以经济组织参与和社会信用为代表的认知型社会资本,促进了农户在银行等正规金融部门的贷款可得性。

Social capital is widely regarded as an important factor affecting the availability of credit for farmers.However,with the change of rural economy and social structure,the social capital form of farming households is undergoing systematic changes.Is social capitalof different types having a different impact on the availability of credit and financing channels for farmers?This paper studies the issuebased on the survey data of farmers in Guangdong Province and Jiangxi Province of China.The study found that:overall,social capital can alleviate farmers’financing plight;Social capital of different types affects farmers in their choice of the financing channels:the structural social capital which is represented by consanguinity promotes the private loan of farming households,which does not help them to obtain the loan of institutions,and the cognitive social capital represented by economic organization participation and social credit promote the availability of credit for farmers in the formal market
