蔡元培与国立青岛大学——纪念蔡元培诞辰150周年

蔡元培在借鉴法国大学区制,推进国立、省立大学分立时,不赞成在省城之外的城市建立大学。当蔡元培的"教育独立"思想屡遭挫折,大学院及大学区制试验被迫中止,他本人从中央教育权力中枢退却后,遂借助私立青岛大学与省立山东大学停办之际,力主在省城之外的青岛创办国立大学。国立青岛大学成为蔡元培策划实施中国高等教育的收官之作。

When Cai Yuanpei was learning from the French universities to promote the separation of national and provincial universities,he disapproved of founding universities outside capital cities.However,after he retreated from the central education authorities with repeated setbacks of his thought of educational independence and his trial of university colleges and university districts was discontinued,he turned to found a national university in non-provincial city-Qingdao when private Qingdao University and provincial Shandong University were suspended.Therefore,National Qingdao University became Cai Yuanpei's last masterpiece in his project of Chinese higher education.
