A Null Case Analysis of English Control Construction

无论管约论还是最简方案下,英语控制结构都尚未得到充分的解释。本文认为PRO具有零格特征。控制关系可以在最简方案的探针-目标模式下,通过修改的广义控制原则获得解释。本文将控制结构分为强制控制、非强制控制和半控制,对控制结构的句法推导做了分析,对不同的控制类型进行了解释。

English control construction cannot be explained fully whether under Government and Binding Framework or under the Minimalist Program.This paper argues that PRO has the null case feature and control in various structures can be explained by the modified Generalized Control theory on the probe-goal model.The paper claims that control construction consists of obligatory control,non-obligatory control and half control.It analyses the syntactic derivation of control construction and gives an explanation to different types of control structures.
