The Ship of Theseus”is a paradox with a long history and a number of analyses,among which many suggest that its core is the conflict between various criteria of material constitution or of object identity.How does the conflict happen?Starting from that question,the thesis gives an analysis on the paradox according to Wittgenstein’s theory of language-game,shows the mechanism by which the paradox arises from the interconnection of language,rules,forms of life and human needs,and still further,indicates that paradoxes are not faults of our reason to be remedied but excellent starting points for looking into our ways of living and investigating philosophical problems.
