《赖柏英》中的闽南文化回译探析 被引量:1

摘要 林语堂一生著有7部英文小说,其创作初衷就是要把中国文化介绍给西方读者,让西方了解中国。根据翻译目的论,翻译目的不同,翻译时所采取的策略也不同。这可用来指导林语堂英文小说的回译。回译是种特殊的翻译,旨在还原原文文化。对林语堂英文小说的回译意味着要还原中国文化,包括中国的地域文化。林语堂创作《赖柏英》含有传播闽南话和闽南文化的创作意图。但是,谢青云汉译的《赖柏英》却存在着闽南文化乱译、错译、漏译等现象,妨碍了闽南文化的传播。因此,回译者应该本着与林语堂的创作意图相一致的翻译目的,恰当选用不同的翻译策略进行翻译,真实还原小说中的闽南味儿,才能再现原文的价值。 Lin Yutang wrote seven English novels in his lifetime,which originally intended to introduce Chinese culture to western readers and let them know about China.According to Skopos theory,different translation purposes determine the adoption of different translation strategies,which can provide guidance for the restoring translation of Lin Yutang’s English novels.Restoring translation is a special kind of translation skill that aims to restore the original culture.Thus,the restoring translation of Lin Yutang’s English novels means restoring Chinese culture,including the regional cultures in China.Juniper Loa written by Lin Yutang shows the original intention of spreading Minnan dialect and Minnan culture.However,as to the restoring translation of Minnan culture,some dissatisfactory phenomena exist in Juniper Loa translated into chinese by Xie Qingyun,such as random translation,mistranslation,pretermission,etc.,which hinder Minnan culture from spreading correctly.Therefore,restoring translators should have their translation purposes in accord with Lin Yutang’s original intention,properly choose different translation strategies in translation and truthfully restore the Minnan flavor in this novel so as to reproduce the value of the original work.
