被称为"吴中诗冠"的徐祯卿留下了大约八百多篇文作,包括诗、赋、文、笔记、杂著、传记志文等。徐祯卿的大多作品中都表露了自己对于美丑的态度,其中《丑女赋》是对美丑主题阐述较为鲜明之作。《丑女赋》是一篇以丑女为主体的讽刺性作品,其中提出了美丑的指代性,美代表的是徒有其表之人,丑代表的是有才华却不被赏识的人。正因遭遇社会的不公,作者便以丑女自喻,通过美与丑的鲜明对比的艺术手法来传达"德重于貌"的主题。

Xu Zhengqing shows his attitude towards beauty and ugliness in most of his works,among which Chounyu Fu is a typical work.Chounyu Fu is a satirical work with ugly women as its main body,in which beauty stands for specious people and ugliness stands for those who have talent but are not appreciated.Because of the injustice of society,the author likens himself as a ugly woman and conveys the theme of“virtue overweighs appearance”by artistic means of sharp contrast between beauty and ugliness.
