文学翻译中的译者姿态——以林译《浮生六记》和王译《阿Q正传》为中心

On Translatorial Hexis in Literary Translation: The Case Study of Fusheng Liuji Translated by Lin Yutang and A Q Zhengzhuan Translated by Chi-chen Wang

查尔斯顿提出的译者姿态理论认为,译作的某些文本细节体现了译者试图在本国文化场域中寻求荣耀的姿态,这为我们考察译者决策提供了一种新的分析工具。本文考察文学翻译中译者姿态的表征。首先辨析布迪厄定义的"惯习""身体姿态"概念,接着述评查尔斯顿的理论,并据以提出假设:有着中华文化身份且从事中华文化外译的译者采取的翻译策略往往体现出一种旨在寻求中华文化荣耀的译者姿态。对林语堂英译《浮生六记》和王际真英译《阿Q正传》的个案分析可以支持该假设。

David Charlston,who proposed the theory of translatorial hexis postulates that an honour-seeking bodily stance or hexis might be embodied in certain textual details of the translated text.The theory offers a valid conceptual tool for certain translatorial choice analysis.This paper aims at examining the manifestations of translatorial hexis in literary translation.It first clarifies the Bourdieusian conceptual similarities and differences between habitus and hexis,and then reviews Charlston’s theory.In the light of it,the author proposes a working hypothesis that certain translation strategies employed by translator of Chinese culture and with Chinese cultural identity often embodies a bodily stance or hexis to seek for Chinese cultural honour.This paper presents case studies of Fusheng Liuji translated by Lin Yutang and A Q Zhengzhuan translated by Chi-chen Wang to substantiate the above hypothesis.
