摘要
终其一生,张爱玲未曾真正涉足南洋。但南洋意象不时出现在她的文学想象中,参差错落地表现在她的小说、散文和电影剧本之中,具化为书写中的南洋故事片段、南洋人物群像、南洋风土人情和南洋华侨观念。张爱玲的南洋书写既涉及南洋宗教,又关乎南洋艺术;不仅有南洋风情,亦有南洋文化;还对南洋华侨群体有冷静的凝视和剖析,构造出中国现代文学史上与众不同的南洋想象,形成独特的南洋书写风格,并对当代东南亚华文作家的创作形成某种影响之焦虑。
Eileen Chang has never been to Nanyang throughout her whole life.However,Nanyang’s(literally the South Sea)image appears in Eileen Chang’s literary imagination from time to time and has become a haunting“Nanyang complex”.The image was scattered in her novels,essays and screenplays,and was integrated into Nanyang stories,Nanyang characters,as well as customs and ideas of overseas Chinese in Nanyang.Writing the South Seas involves both the religion and the art of Nanyang;it is a mixture of not only the Nanyang customs but also the Nanyang culture.In addition,Eileen Chang also calmly observed and analyzed the groups of overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia,forming a unique style of writing the South Seas and constructing“imagining the Nanyang in Chinese”in the history of Chinese modern literature,and thus influencing the creation of contemporary Chinese writers in Southeast Asia.
