The ghosts and spirits is an important conception in Confucian classics,which had been accepted in the beginning by Matteo Ricci,who,however,opposed the understanding of ghosts and spirits by ZHU Xi.After 100 years,Fran?ois Noёl,a Belgian Jesuit who had studied the Neo-Confucianism more systematically,found that the explanation of ghosts and spirits by Neo-Confucian does not contradict the doctrine of Catholicism,which is revealed in the role of ghosts and spirits between the Heaven and all things on earth.
