An Analysis of U.S. Covert Propaganda against China in the Early 1950s——Based on Documents in Taipei “National History Archives”

20世纪50年代初,随着中国与苏联结盟和朝鲜战争爆发,美国为了破坏中苏同盟,削弱苏联和中国的力量和影响,缓解朝战压力,乃至颠覆中国政权,中情局台北站以"西方公司"身份开展活动,对中国大陆实施大规模隐蔽宣传战,制作、投送大量反华传单。这场宣传战由于其内容的虚假性和中国政府的强力应对遭到彻底失败,同时,进一步恶化了中美关系,加剧了中美对抗和东西方冷战;加强了美台合作,强化了美台关系;促使中国政府进一步加强了社会管理。

In the Early 1950s,with the formation of Sino-Soviet Alliance and the outbreak of the Korean War,the U.S.carried out a large campaign of covert propaganda to destroy Sino-Soviet Alliance,weaken their influence and power,release pressure on the Korean War,and even subvert the new Chinese regime.Under the guise of Western Enterprises Incorporation,the CIA Taipei Station launched this warfare against China's Mainland,producing and airdropping countless anti-China leaflets.But this attempt failed completely for its falsity and the powerful counter actions by the Chinese government.While further worsening Sino-US relations,and intensifying their confrontation and the Cold War,this propaganda strengthened the relation between the USA and Taiwan and prompted the Chinese government to further enhance social management.
