A large number of small hydropower stations in Guizhou Province can only generate electricity in the flood season,so they cannot be economically or efficiently operated throughout the whole year.Aiming at this problem, with the combination of abundant resources of solar and wind energies in this province, wind and photovoltaic(PV)power generations are added on the basis of the existing small hydropower stations;in addition, battery storage parts are configured, thus a wind-solar-water-battery complementary power generation system is built.Based on a simulation software HOMER,the optimal capacity configuration scheme for the power generation system in off-and on-grid modes are studied, and the cost and economic efficiency of the combined generation system are explored.Research results show that the development of the off-grid wind-solar-water-battery complementary power generation system has a high inves-tment cost and a long payback period;however,if we try to meet the demand for electricity in remote mountainous areas, this complementary system is still necessary and feasible;because of no need of batteries, the investment cost of the on-grid complementary power generation system based on small hydropower stations is greatly reduced,so the corresponding economic efficiency of its development is relatively higher.
