摘要
“历史拒绝逝去”展览呈现了30件绘画、雕塑、素描作品,以及未经专业培训的当代非洲裔美国艺术家们的作品。此次展览展出作品具有媒介与技术手段多样性的特点。通过使用随手可得的物品和重复利用的材料,彰显创作者的文化与审美亲切感。而作品的主题同样呈现多样化的特点,它们深深根植于个人的历史与经验、区域身份认同。
History Refused to Die presents thirty paintings,sculptures,drawings,and quilts by self-taught contemporary African American artists.Remarkably diverse in media and technique,the works in this exhibition nonetheless suggest their makers'cultural and aesthetic kinship through the use of found and repurposed materials.Their subjects are likewise varied,rooted in personal history and experience,regional identity.
