The paper studies the logic of statutory urban design.Based on the analysis of the functions of law and urban design for Xujiahui commercial facilities,the flaws within statutory urban design is therefore recognized.Meanwhile,the separation of the statutes of urban design and the essential properties of urban design,may have negative influences due to the excessive administration on urban design.
