The Historical Roles of Yanching University Library in the History of Chinese Studies of United States

国学、汉学、中国研究是三个既相互联系又相互区别的概念和研究领域,各自经历了不同的发展道路。在美国的中国研究中,哈佛大学是美国的中国研究中心,哈佛燕京学社和哈佛燕京图书馆则是哈佛大学中国研究的基石;哈佛大学又以燕京大学作为在华开展中国研究的中心,燕京大学图书馆亦成为支撑美国在中美两地开展中国研究的基础。

Chinese Learning,Sinology and Chinese Studies are connective butdifferent concepts and de-velop in their own ways.Harvard University is the center of Chinese Studies in the United States,and Har-vard-Yanching Institute and Harvard-Yanching Library play a role of cornerstone of Chinese Studies of the University.On the other hand,Harvard University selects Yanching University as its center of Chinese Studies in China,thus Yanching University Library become a cornerstone supporting the Chinese Studies in Harvard University as well as in the United States and China.
