儒家经典《大学》展示的三纲领、八条目自成体系,其中蕴含着儒家接引学人、助人完善的成人理想。三纲领中明明德指向的是成就自我,新民指向的是成就他人,至善则是对成就自我与他人相统一的社会理想的落实。三纲领为体,八条目为用。八条目展示的内容是实现三纲领的途径,也是儒学向人们展示实现成人理想的人生进修之阶梯。

The Great Learning,one of the Confucian classics,establishes a system of its own with three guiding principles and eight entries that contain Confucian ideals of self-cultivation and guiding others to perfection.Of the three guiding principles,illustrating illustrious virtue refers to self-fulfillment,renovating the people refers to guiding others to perfection,and resting in the highest excellence means achieving the unity of self-perfection and perfection of others.The three guiding principles are the fundamentals and the eight entries are the specifics,describing the way to achieve self-cultivation and human perfection.
