《资治通鉴》是在唐宋史学理论革新的背景下,司马光审时度势、积极探索的结果。一方面,司马光从史书体裁、正统论、编年体的内容以及书法四个方面,批判性地继承了唐宋史学理论革新的成果,并将其用于《资治通鉴》的编撰;另一方面,《资治通鉴》的指导思想也是对前代资鉴思想的损益。

History as a Mirror is the result of Sima Guang’s assessment and positive exploration of the situation in the context of the reform of historiography theories in Tang and Song dynasties.On the one hand,Sima Guang critically inherited the achievements of the reform of historiography theories in Tang and Song dynasties from such four aspects as the history book genre,orthodoxy,the contents of annals and calligraphy,and applied them in the compilation of History as a Mirror.On the other hand,the guiding ideology of History as a Mirror is also the profit and loss of ideas on state governance of previous generations.
