Thai Culture Narration in Chinese Ancient Works before the Song Dynasty

宋代以前中国古籍中的泰国文化叙述领域是一个"他者"空间。在"他者"空间的叙事话语里,叙述者以自我文化认同为基础来对泰国异域文化进行审视和改造,因此塑造了一个"奇风异俗"的泰国文化形象。这一文化形象既是宋代以前中国人对泰国文化或多或少的真实性描述,在一定程度上反映了中国人对泰国文化的了解和认识,以及泰国文化在中国的传播和接受等情况;同时,这一文化形象也是叙述者通过"误读""重申"等手段塑造出的一个与中国文化对立并落后于中国的文化影像,其功能和意义在于通过强调泰国文化的"异质性"来忽略中国文化内部之歧异,并帮助确认中国有关地缘文化的观念和秩序。

The narration of Thai culture in Chinese ancient works before the Song Dynasty is a perspective of“the other”.In terms of“the other”perspective,the narrator is based on self-culture identification to inspect and transform Thai alien culture.Thus,the image of“exotic customs”about Thai culture has been shaped.This culture image,more or less,refers to authentic description in Chinese people before the Song Dynasty.To a certain degree,it reflects Chinese people’s understanding and recognition about Thai culture as well as the spread and acceptance status of Thai culture in China.On the other hand,this culture image also contains cultural illusion that is opposite to and falls behind China,created by the narrator through“misunderstanding”,“reiteration”and other methods.Its function and significance is to ignore differences within Chinese cultures by emphasizing“heterogeneity”of Thai culture,and to confirm concepts and orders related to geographical culture.
