Social enterprises,now appearing almost daily and quickly gaining in number,are now playing a role that surpasses the boundaries of NPOs.This article considers the case of the Ningxia Center for Environment and Poverty Alleviation(宁夏扶贫与环境改造中心),describing the Center s transformation from a microfinance model into a social enterprise.This new form of organization is both non-governmental and devoted to the public interest.Integrating innovation with business spirit,the Center has offered a new kind of solution to a market failure.
