The Xiaguan acupoint(下关穴)is one of the important acupoints on treating trigeminal neuralgia,which belongs to Zu Yangming Weijing(足阳明胃经),in the cheek.Acupuncture shows a good effect in Jifa Jingqi(激发经气),Shutong Jingluo(疏通经络),Huoxue Huayu(活血化瘀),Xingqi Zhitong(行气止痛).Acupuncture of the Xiaguan acupoint on treating trigeminal neuralgia including acupuncture,electroacupuncture,balance acupuncture,acupoint injection,mild moxibustion,venesection,acupuncture plus massage,acupuncture plus polarized light And so on.The acupuncture rules include the Hegu acupuncture(合谷刺),triple acupuncture,elongated acupuncture,mutual acupuncture,Kouzhen acupuncture(口针刺),deep acupuncture,penetration acupuncture and so on.The needling sensation is mainly manifested by soreness and electric shock.In the literature retrieved,the Xiaguan acupoint on treat trigeminal neuralgia was mainly explained,which shows a good effect in clinical practice.
