Is Descartes a Dualist?

在西方哲学史之中,以现代哲学鼻祖闻名于世的法国哲学家笛卡尔,一直被认为是心物(精神与物体)二元论经典形式即实体二元论的始作俑者,然而,通过当代法国笛卡尔思想研究大家古耶和马礼荣等人的文本解读,我们发现,所谓的"笛卡尔式的二元论",乃笛卡尔的反对者和继承者为了反对笛卡尔合一理论所使用的概念,其实是一个历史性的误解,而思想结构相当复杂的笛卡尔本人也绝不会是一个二元论者。

Descartes,widely known as the father of modern philosophy,is always thought of as the founder of the classical form of mind-body dualism in the history of western philosophy,that is,substantial dualism.But after the textual interpretations by Henry Gouhier and Jean-Luc Marion both of who are the latter-day eminent French researchers in the field of Cartesian thought,we find that the so-called“Cartesian dualism”is in fact rather than a historical misunderstanding or misreading,though Descartes himself whose structure of thought is really quite complicated,he will never be a dualist.
