[Purpose/significance]The paper is to provide reference for characteristic database construction of university library consortia.[Method/process]The paper elaborates the co-construction and sharing status quo of characteristic database of university library consortia,analyzes the problems,necessity and feasibility,and discusses the implementation strategies with successful cases.[Result/conclusion]It gives advices about building wholesome institutional framework to organize,harmonize and manage the co-construction and sharing of characteristic database effectively;optimizing the mechanism through following the principle of equality and mutual benefit;establishing web portal and integration platform to offer sharing service;developing uniform standards and specifications to ensure sharing effect.
