An Analysis of Life of Pi from the Perspectives of Structuralism and Metaphor

运用结构主义分析文本的视角与方法,解读李安导演的电影《少年派的奇幻漂流》的人物、情节、内涵等内部特征,把握"倒叙""插叙"的显性叙事结构,从而使用叙事学视角分析其纵向结构,并用二元对立视角与并列序列分析其横向结构,结合电影文本中所出现的与"奇幻"因素相对应的一系列情节元素的"隐喻"呈现,通过对电影深层结构的细节分析展现出其内部的丰富文化内涵,展现电影结构的独特新颖与阐释的多样化可能。

Using the perspective and method of structuralism,we can interpret the characters,plots,connotations and internal characteristics of An Lee’s film“Life of Pi”.Grasping the“flashback”as a dominant narrative structure,trying to analyse the longitudinal structure with narrative knowledge.Then using the binary opposition as a perspective and parallel sequence to analyse the horizontal structure of the movie.Thus we combine the“fantasy”factors in the film which correspond to a series of plot elements as“metaphor”.Through the deep structure of those details,analysis can tell us the rich cultural connotations of its internal.Then it tries to show the unique structure of this film,and the valuable diversity of its interpretation.
