Brief Account of Female Translation Activities in the Past Twenty Years of 20th Century

二十世纪初,随着女性浮出历史地表,她们选择了翻译西方文本来参与国家救亡活动,并出现了可喜的翻译成就。她们的翻译活动不仅与政治环境密切相关,而且与晚清民初的报刊出版有着不解之缘。虽然受到西方女性主义思潮影响,但她们的翻译作品却倾向于侦探小说、家庭生活、科普读物和儿童文学,究其原因,虽几经政治变革,但女性依然没有脱离男性倡导的"男权下的女性观",改变女性的社会地位。女译者对异域文化的吸纳与性别问题的叙述,凸显她们在转型时期对现代性的接纳与体验,使得她们的翻译行为充满了政治文化意义。

At the beginning of twentieth century,With the advent of women coming into historical surface,they chose to translate Western texts to participate in national salvation activities,and made gratifying translation achievements.Their translation activities are not only closely related to the political environment,but also have an indissoluble bond with the newspapers and periodicals of the late Qing Dynasty.Although under the influence of Western feminist thought,they tend to translate detective novels,family life,popular science books and children's literature,the fundamental reason,is that although the politics changed,but women still did not divorced from the“female under the male concept”advocated by the man,and did not change the social status of women.The translator’s narration of foreign culture and gender is the highlight of their acceptance and experience of modernity in the transitional period,which makes their translation work full of political and cultural significance.
