资本、现代性与社会建构——基于夏威夷王国历史的考察

Capital, Modernity and the Social Construction——A Historical Study on the Hawaiian Kingdom

资本是消解传统等级制社会结构,并促使新的社会结构生成的强制性客观力量,是现代性生成的根源。资本作用于能动的人,使人发生异化,进而推动社会关系的重构。作为一个殖民条件下的非西方社会,夏威夷从传统社会向现代社会的演变也是资本力量运动的结果。在资本的影响下,夏威夷开始了现代社会经济结构的建构过程,现代性转化为其内生的胚芽。接着,社会生产关系也全面改变,资本的社会建构功能发挥,在夏威夷的宗教、政治、社会等各个领域,现代性得以萌生。殖民主义在促成这一现代化道路的同时,却又把夏威夷变成殖民体系结构的边缘和附庸,并最终扼杀了它的未来。

Capital,the mandatory objective force to eliminate the traditional hierarchic social structure and to promote the formation of a new social structure,is the root of modernity.It acts on persons with subjective initiative,causes their dissimilation,and then promotes the reconstruction of social relations.As a non-Western society,the evolution of Hawaii from the traditional society to the modern one is the result of the movement of capital strength.Under the influence of the capital,Hawaii started the construction process of modern economic structure,and the modernity was transformed into a kind of endogenous germ.The production relations changed,and the capital s function of social construction worked.Modernity emerged in Hawaii s political,religious,social and cultural and all other fields.While promoting the modernization of Hawaii,colonialism also put it into the edge of the colonial architecture,eventually killing its future.
