李鸿章佚函《复欧阳兆熊》钩沉——李鸿章出幕与赴沪的人事臂助

The Exploration of Li Hong-zhang's Lost Letter Reply to Ouyang Zhao-xiong:the Pushing Hand of Li's Establishment of Huai Army and His March to Shanghai Trip

李鸿章亲笔信《复欧阳兆熊》不见于《李鸿章全集》,而欧、李往返通信都论及曾国藩选派统帅建军东征之事,欧阳兆熊"自诩其藻鉴之明",李鸿章则回以"谬膺艰巨"而"怨及良媒"。通过对佚函的考证,结合《曾国藩全集》、欧阳兆熊《榾柮谈屑》与《李鸿章全集》《胡林翼集》,可探知李鸿章离开曾幕与领军赴沪的人事臂助。

Although Li Hong-zhang’s(李鸿章)holograph Reply to Ouyang Zhao-xiong(欧阳兆熊)cannot be found in Li Hong-zhang Complete Works,there were still references to Zeng Guo-fan’s(曾国藩)selection of Commander,organzation of Huai Army(淮军)and their eastward expedition to Jiangsu and Shanghai in Ouyang and Li’s correspondence.Ouyang Zhao-xiong“praise himself for the recognition and recommendation of Li Hong-zhang”,but Li replied that“I am tempering myself hard for these important responsibilities”and therefore“‘resent’you go-between(a.k.a referrer)from time to time”.This passage textually researches Li Hong-zhang’s resignation from Zeng Guo-fan’s staff organization and the assistance of his promotion for the Shanghai trip by referring to the collected works of Zeng Guo-fan,Ouyang Zhao-xiong,Li Hong-zhang and Hu Lin-yi(胡林翼).
