The Analytical Logic of Weak Ties Strength:A Comparison between Absolutism and Relativity

关系网研究在理论和应用方面正日益受到不同学科的关注,也因此提出了对一些基础概念和内在逻辑进行更深入分析的要求。本文是在这一背景下对一个基础性的理论命题,即弱关系优势进行的分析。文章辨析了社会网络的关系强度分析中存在的两条路径,将之称为关系强度绝对论分析路径和相对论分析路径,对这两条分析路径中的概念界定特征、基本逻辑、运用概念和逻辑于"桥"分析、自我中心网分析、社区组织分析和传播分析的差异进行了比较,并对于强弱关系优势进行了各自研究路径上的考察。

The research of social networks is attracting increasing attention from different disciplines in theory and application. Therefore,it is necessary to make a deeper analysis of certain basic concepts and its internal logic. This paper analyzes a basic theoretical proposition,namely,weak ties strength.We analyze two research paths in the ties strength analysis of social networks,which are named as the Absolutism and the Relativity of ties strength analysis. It compares the different characteristics in terms of the concept definition,basic logic,the concepts and logic of use in egocentric networks analysis,community organization analysis,"bridge " ties analysis and propagation analysis between the two research paths,and investigates the strengths of weak ties and strong ties.
