Battle between “Free Love” and “Worldly Concern”:Narrative Features of Red Rose and White Rose

以叙事学理论为基础,分析了张爱玲经典小说《红玫瑰与白玫瑰》的深刻主题意义,认为叙述者在"编码"过程中给予了小说人物不同的视角权利范围和语言自由度。从叙述角度、叙述语言,以及叙述可靠性三方面具体论述了小说叙述视角频繁"跳角",多种转述方式精准切换,"谁看"与"谁说"不断变化的叙事特色,认为小说在"情爱自由地"和"世俗富贵乡"的角力中,面向的是人"追寻自由"的普遍困境而不只是爱情的缱绻。

Based on the theory of narratology,this paper analyzes the profound meaning of Eileen Chang s classic novel Red Rose and White Rose,and believes that the author gives the novel characters different perspectives and language freedom.From the narrative angle,narrative language,and narrative reliability,the paper elaborates on the frequent changes of the narrative perspective of the novel,the precise switching of multiple narrative modes,and the changing narrative features of“who sees”and“who speaks”.It is believed that in the wrestling of“free love”and“worldly concern”,the novel faces the common predicament of“seeking freedom”rather than just the embarrassment of love.
