The intestinal barrier mainly includes normal gut bacteria, mucus layer, intestinal epithelial cells and immune barrier, whose function is closely related to dietary.Dietary fiber refers to carbohydrates that cannot be digested and absorbed by their endogenous digestive enzymes in the intestinal tract of mammals, commonly known as non-starch polysaccharides(NSP),which mainly includes cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin andβ-glucan,etc.Dietary fiber can enhance intestinal mucosal barrier, improve the structure of microbial community and improve the ratio of probiotics to pathogenic bacteria, etc. The present review summarizes the effect and mechanism of dietary fiber on intestinal barrier function of pigs for promoting the rational and effective utilization of dietary fiber in swine industry.
