林墨青和近代中国最早的儿童图书馆

Lin MoQing and the Earliest Children's Library in Modern China

儿童图书馆是社会教育的产物,民国时期是儿童图书馆起步和发展的重要时期。1917年10月,社会教育家林墨青先生创办的天津社会教育办事处儿童图书馆正式对外开放,这是近代中国最早的儿童图书馆。运行十几年之中,儿童图书馆取得一定成就。随着社会教育的发展和通俗图书馆的设立,1929年天津社会教育办事处裁撤,儿童图书馆也随之关闭。林墨青无疑是儿童图书馆的先驱者,应载入儿童图书馆发展史。

Children’s library is the product of social education,and the Republic of China was an important period for children’s library to start and develop.In October1917,the Children’s Library of the Tianjin Social Education Office founded by Mr.Lin Moqing,a social educator,was officially opened to the public.That was the earliest children’s library in modern China.During the ten years of operation,the children’s library had achieved certain achievements.With the development of social education and the establishment of a popular library,the Tianjin Social Education Office was abolished in1929and the children’s library was also closed.Lin Moqing was undoubtedly a pioneer of children’s libraries and should be included in the history of children’s libraries.
