人格是人作为生物和社会属性的主体在处理人与自然、社会及人本身关系时所外显出来的人之为人的规定性,也即人作为人的价值、尊严、品质、行为和感情的总和。生态人格即是人格在生态方面的规定性,或是人格和谐的规定性。当代陕西动物叙事作品中塑造了众多生态人格形象,从其形成的动因分析,可大致概括为"内源型""外源型"和"反转型"三类。对动物小说生态人格的探究可以反观人与自然的动态关系,反思人类对待自然万物的种种观念与行为,重塑人与自然之间传统的道德关系与伦理关系,对于生态文明建设具有积极意义。
