New Perspective on the First Secret Meeting between Zhang Xueliang and Zhou Enlai in Fushi

张学良与周恩来首次肤施密谈之内容十分广泛,周恩来事后的报告电并未能囊括无遗。对蒋策略应是会谈中极其重要且有争议的一项内容。张、周都曾力图说服对方,但均未能成功。会谈的结果与其说是谁说服了谁,还不如说是求同存异更为恰当。

The first secret meeting between Zhang Xueliang and Zhou Enlai in Fushi discussed a variety of issues,which are not completely included in the telegraph sent by Zhou Enlai after the meeting.The strategy to handle Chiang Kai-shek is an important but disputed topic in the secret talk.Both Zhou and Zhang attempted to persuade the other party but failed.The talk didn’t reach an agreement but successfully sought common ground while reserving differences.
