A Nonexistent Female Space——Take Female Images in Hardy's Novels as an Example

哈代是英国杰出的批判现实主义作家,他笔下的女性形象生动饱满且个性鲜明。她们与生存环境之间产生了剧烈冲突,她们不同的命运结局是对维多利亚后半期女性行为规范和要求的反映。本文运用文学批评的理论与方法,系统分析哈代三部具有代表性小说中的女性人物形象。通过解读小说中几位个性鲜明的女性对社会环境的叛逆或顺从、抗争或同化,从她们的命运结局中探析一个在维多利亚时代不存在的女性空间。

Hardy is an outstanding writer of critical realism.The female images in his works are vivid,full and distinctive.There is a fierce conflict between them and their living environment,and their different fates are the reflection of the norms and requirements of women's behavior in the latter half of Vitoria.By using the theory and method of literary criticism,this paper analyzes female characters of Hardy's three representative novels.By analyzing the rebellion or obedience,struggle or assimilation towards the social environment of several distinctive women in these novels,from their fate,this paper explores a female space that does not exist in the Vitoria era.
