The language of film and television works is an art form of glamour and influence.This paper,using the theory of conversational implication from the perspective of pragmatics,analyzes the language art in the film Howard Manor adapted from the novel of the same title written by British famous novelist E.M.Froster.The dialogue in Howard Manor violates the“cooperative principle”,containing extremely rich conversational implication,showing the personality characteristics of the characters and the plot development in the story,and uncovering the theme of the film and the social situation and problems.
