There are differences in motivation categories,levels and distributions underlying the lexical meanings of English and Chinese language.The motivation studies in lexical level are as important as studies in levels of syntax and discourse.Cultural backgrounds,social and natural environment,customs and religious beliefs are different motivations reflected in vocabulary and understanding of the semantic motivations of the two languages can boost the efficiency of English vocabulary learning.
