长春市公共场所标识语规范性路径及对策研究

Regulatory Methods for Public Signs in Changchun City and Relevant Solutions

公共场所英语标识语是城市对外宣传,提升国际形象的一个重要部分。通过对长春市公共场所的标识语进行实地走访和了解,发现大型公共场所的英语标识语的翻译质量较好,但也存在一定的问题。针对存在的问题,提出了相应的规范路径和建议。并希望有关部门组织熟悉汉英标识语功能意义和语言特点的专家参与到英语标识语的翻译和审核工作中,并遵循语用等效翻译原则,全面改进本市公共场所的英语标识语,从而促进长春市国际形象的提升。

Public signs in English are an important part for a city's image in the international arena.In Changchun City,a field investigation showed that some problems did exist in the English translation of public signs in principal public places,though most of them were translated fairly well.To resolve these problems,some regulatory approaches were proposed in the paper below,e.g.responsible governmental departments should invite some experts who are specialized in the functional meanings and linguistic features of public signs in both Chinese and English to participate in the translation and review by following the principle of pragmatic equivalence so as to promote Changchun better to the world.
