江南人才辈出的社会文化根因——一个文化地理学的诠释

Socio-cultural Reasons for the Multitude of Gifted Scholars in the Regions South of the Yangtze River: A Cultural-geographical Perspective

江南多才子,明清以后更甚。从文化地理学的视角来看,至少有三个原因:一是中国经济中心南移与政治中心的南北对峙或南北迁移,为江南人才辈出奠定了经济政治基础;二是大量北方人口南迁,使得文化中心南移,各民族之间的交流与融合加强,异族杂居通婚使得"混血子嗣智商优异";三是江南乡绅社会重视文化教育,使得江南文化发达,社学与书院众多,具有良好的读书习儒的社会环境和科举入仕的人文底蕴。

Why are gifted scholars turned out in succession from regions south of the Yangtze River?There are at least three reasons from the perspective of cultural geography.First,economic center moved from North China to South China and political center of North China confronted with that of the South or such center moved between North China and South China,which laid the foundation for the massive production of gifted scholars in the regions south of the Yangtze River.Second,a large number of people migrated from North China to South China,which moved the cultural center from North China to South China,thus promoting the cultural exchange and intermarriage,out of which mixed-blood male offspring were born with excellent intelligence quotient.Third,the country gentlemen of the regions south of the Yangtze River paid much attention to culture and education,which fostered a favorable environment for learning and imperial examination in the regions.
