Ruth Prawer Jhabvala is an important Indian writer in the English-speaking world and her novels A Backward Place,A New Dominion and Heat and Dust are representatives of her late works. Both the Indians and the Westerners in the three novels have more or less psychological trauma under the sky of colonialism. They are typical cultural vagrants, who struggle to maintain their own cultural origins between Indian and British cultures. The unique cultural state and spiritual experience are embodied by the means of cultural hybridization and cultural exclusion.
