Construction of Writer Identity from the Perspective of Evidentiality in English Research Articles

学术研究论文是作者高度参与的一种社会行为,作者在写作过程中不断构建自我身份。言据性作为一种语篇策略,与作者身份构建有密切关系,言据性语言资源体现作者身份。英语学术研究论文具有独特的体裁特征,它的言据性可分为4类:感官类据素、转述类据素、推测类据素和信念类据素。据素可增加作者可信度,柔化读者关系,暗示承担责任。探索言据性和作者学术身份之间的关系可以帮助中国学者更加有意识地采取策略,有效传播学术成果。

Academic research article are considered to be a kind of social behavior in which the author is highly involved.The writer constantly constructs his identity during the process of writing.As a discourse strategy,evidentiality is closely related to the writer’s identity construction.The evidential language resources reflect the writer identity.With the unique genre characteristics,evidentiality in English academic research articles can be divided into four categories:sensory evidential,reporting evidential,inferring evidential and belief evidential.The evidential increases the writer’s credibility,softens the readership between the writer and the readers,and assumes responsibility implicitly.Exploring the relationship between evidentiality and the writer’s academic identity can help Chinese scholars become more conscious of strategies and effectively disseminate their academic achievements.
