Discussion on English Translation of Chinese Names in International Journals

中国人名在国际期刊中的英译存在不统一、不规范等现象,以致于西方人误将中国人的名当做姓及部分个人信息丢失等,造成文献检索时的误检、漏检,最终影响了中国学者及所属单位的国际排名。

There are non-uniform and non-standard English translating approaches of Chinese names in international journals.Such phenomena do impose serious problems on retrieving information about scholars who have publications in the world owing to loss of information about the author or misuse of Chinese first names and given names by the westerners,which in a great degree results in incorrect rankings in global university league both for Chinese scholars themselves and for their organizations.
